Our history

More than a decade in small business finance

Since 2007, we've helped thousands of small businesses access over $300 million of funding.

We started out under the name Merchant Cash Express with a signed processing agreement with Lloyds Cardnet. We had funded our 100th advance in under a year of operation.

We knew we could be doing even more to help small businesses grow - so we signed our second processing agreement with Elavon in 2009. This enabled us to expand our service, and provide business finance to those using Elavon card processing terminals. By April the following year, we had reached the milestone of funding our 1000th advance!

In 2013 we joined leading venture builders, Blenheim Chalcot, and rebranded as Liberis with a vision to become a leading fintech and finance provider to champion small business internationally.

In 2014 we launched our agnostic processor solution, which meant that we could integrate our Business Cash Advance with any card processor.
Rapid growth and the power of our technology led us to partner with global leader in payment processing, Worldpay, late in 2015, launching  Worldpay Business Finance

In 2016 we developed and launched our online application system, providing quick and simple access to finance for the millions of small businesses worldwide, surpassing £100m in funding.

In 2017 we became a founding member of the Association of Alternative Business Finance (AABF), an organisation formed, alongside six other alternative business finance providers, to promote best industry practice and responsibility in our field.

In 2018, we partnered with Sage to create Sage Pay Business Finance, and joined the Xero marketplace as a selected finance provider. We also went live with CashPlus, won major ISO contracts with Netpay and Active Payments.

In recent months, we also funded our first applications through Open Banking and launched Risk Based Pricing which allows us to make even smarter, quicker decisions on funding. We’re now growing our international presence so we can fund small businesses throughout the globe, and launched Worldpay Capital in the US at the beginning on 2019.
